Since I'm not working this summer and just job hunting, I'm realizing I'm forgetting what day it is. I'm so grateful for calendars and friends to keep reminding me what day it is :) Today and yesterday were nice relaxing days staying out of the heat or just cooling down. I'm very grateful for friends who have pools that invite me over for a relaxing few hours and to cool off from the heat. It gives me a chance to catch up with them and reminds me that I will have to work extra hard to stay in touch since I won't see them every day once the fall starts up again. These changes are coming and there is nothing I can do to stop them. All I can do is take life as it is and let God control my path.
Top 5 for yesterday:
1. Breakfast out again
2. Checking out a little boutique
3. Buying myself a present and having the store wrap it so I can open it later
4. Getting things off the checklist
5. Friends to talk to late at night
Top 5 for today:
1. Sleeping in and not having to worry about moving my car
2. Spontaneous cleaning out of my bathroom vanity and medicine cabinet
3. Spending some time poolside for the first time all summer
4. Catching up with a good friend
5. Having a/c to keep the hot weather away :)
I am finding the good in every day situations. Life gets hard, but life keeps going. We can't stop and focus on the bad, we need to focus on the good...even if it is something as small as a smile from a little child.

A day with friends
Today turned out to be one of the best so far this summer. I spent all day with friends. This morning I was up and ready to head out the door and realized it's recycling and garbage day so I was able to get all my paper recycling from the massive clean-out outside to the curb. I was able to grab some breakfast with a friend and her son and then hit up the mall for a few hours with another friend. It's nice to just get out and enjoy time with friends. It was a breath of fresh air :)
Top 5 for today:
1. Breakfast and good conversation with a friend
2. Shopping and talking
3. Using gift cards and cash not having to use my card a lot
4. Ordering 101 free prints from Shutterfly :)
5. Finally organized all the choral music I have accumulated
All music organized into piles

Happy July!
We are halfway through the year! This summer is going by so fast and with it comes a lot of excitement, fun plans, and some stress as I am still applying for jobs and not hearing back from any of them. I need to remember that everything is in control with God. He knows where I am going to be this fall..whether it's teaching, in grad school full time, or subbing. From someone who lives by her calendar on her phone (and has 2 other calendars in her kitchen), letting go is hard. Is there anything you need to let go and let God?
